Authors: RAZONABLE, CHRISTIAN KYLE C. BAJENTING, FRITZ GERALD N. SADINO, ACE CHRISTIAN B. CADELIÑA, SHEANALYN J. LIBO, PRINCESS LEILA V. SERJAS, JEREMY N.

Abstract This study examines the relationship between the National Service Training Program (NSTP) and the level of civic consciousness among students. Specifically, it aims to determine whether participation in NSTP activities influences students’ awareness of social responsibilities, community involvement, leadership, and patriotism. A quantitative research design was utilized, and data were collected through survey questionnaires administered to selected college students who had completed the NSTP program. The findings of the study revealed that there is no significant relationship between participation in NSTP activities and the level of civic consciousness among students. Although NSTP encourages volunteerism, discipline, cooperation, and community participation, the results indicate that these factors did not significantly affect the students’ civic consciousness. The study concludes that while NSTP remains an important component of student development, other factors may also influence the formation of civic awareness and social responsibility. Therefore, the study recommends further enhancement of NSTP activities and additional research to identify other variables that may contribute to students’ civic consciousness. Keywords: NSTP program, civic consciousness, significant relationship

Abstract This study examined the relationship between awareness of prevailing political issues and the level of political engagement among students of Davao Central College (DCC). It aimed to determine students’ level of political awareness, assess their participation in political and civic activities, and identify whether a significant relationship exists between these variables. A quantitative descriptive-correlational design was employed, with data collected through a researcher-made survey questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, were used to measure levels of awareness and engagement, while the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient was applied to test their relationship. The findings revealed that students demonstrated a moderate level of political awareness and a moderate level of political engagement. Furthermore, a significant positive relationship was found between the two variables, indicating that students who are more aware of political issues are more likely to participate in political and civic activities. The study concludes that political awareness significantly influences students’ engagement and recommends that educational institutions strengthen programs that promote political literacy, critical thinking, and responsible civic participation to help develop informed and active citizens. Abstract Road safety and drivers’ compliance with traffic regulations remain major concerns in Davao City despite the continuous implementation of government road safety programs and enforcement initiatives. This study aimed to determine the significant relationship between the implementation of Land Transportation Office (LTO) programs in enhancing road safety and drivers’ compliance among Davaoeño motorists. The study utilized a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design, and data were gathered through survey questionnaires administered to 150 licensed motorists from the barangays of Toril Proper, Daliao, and Lubogan, Davao City. The findings revealed that the implementation of LTO programs in enhancing road safety was rated very high, with an overall mean of 3.56. Likewise, the level of drivers’ compliance among Davaoeño motorists was also rated very high, with an overall mean of 3.80. Furthermore, the study found a statistically significant relationship between LTO programs and drivers’ compliance, with an r-value of .226 and a p-value of .005, indicating a weak positive correlation between the variables. The study concluded that effective implementation of LTO programs contributes to improving drivers’ compliance and promoting road safety among Davaoeño motorists. It is recommended that the Land Transportation Office continue strengthening road safety programs, enforcement strategies, digital services, and public awareness campaigns to further improve driver compliance and traffic safety. Authors: VILLACAMPA, DUSHTEN VILLAR GUMAPAC, STEPHEN STEVE GERONIMO, PRINCE MERINILLO, JULES AROBO, GERALD CANTILA, SEAN ROA, JHUN RIC

Abstract This qualitative study entitled “Life After Bars: Persons with Lived Experience of Incarceration” explores the post-release experiences of formerly incarcerated individuals, focusing on the complex process of reintegration into society and the interplay between external societal barriers and internal moral transformation. The study specifically aims to understand how social stigma, family support systems, and personal spiritual or psychological changes influence desistance from crime and shape the reintegration journey of persons deprived of liberty after release. A qualitative research design was employed to capture in-depth, narrative-rich accounts of lived experiences, allowing participants to freely express their perceptions, struggles, and coping mechanisms in adjusting to life outside correctional facilities. Data were gathered through semi-structured, face-to-face interviews with selected participants who had direct lived experience of incarceration and were purposively chosen based on their willingness and ability to share meaningful insights relevant to the study. Findings reveal that successful reintegration is not solely dependent on structural opportunities but is significantly influenced by the combination of strong familial support and internal moral reform, while persistent social stigma continues to hinder full societal acceptance and reintegration. PERCEPTION OF BUSINESS OWNERS’ READINESS IN EMPLOYING NEWLY RELEASED INMATES

Authors: RICARDO, WILLIAM GABRILLE V. VILLARINO, EDRIAN MARK D. GENOBISA, GLENN KARL U. MABANO, THEA ANGELA S. CINCO, JOHN CLARK F. RAMOS, JOHN GIL S.

Abstract This qualitative descriptive study explored the perceptions of business owners regarding their readiness to employ newly released inmates, focusing on their views, concerns, and willingness to provide employment opportunities to formerly incarcerated individuals. Using purposive sampling, selected business owners participated in in-depth semi-structured interviews to share their experiences and insights regarding second-chance hiring. Through thematic analysis, five major themes emerged: (1) Risk Perception and Assessment, which highlights concerns related to offense severity, trustworthiness, and workplace security; (2) Workplace Readiness and Organizational Preparedness, which emphasizes the role of business capacity, employee acceptance, and organizational support systems; (3) Second Chances, Redeemability, and Personal Values, which reflects employers’ beliefs about rehabilitation, personal growth, and opportunities for change; (4) Skills, Training, and Job-Fit Considerations, which focuses on the importance of competencies, qualifications, and job suitability in hiring decisions; and (5) Social Reintegration and Stigma, which examines the influence of public perception, stereotypes, and community acceptance on employment opportunities for newly released inmates. The findings suggest that business owners’ readiness to employ newly released inmates is shaped by a combination of practical business considerations, perceived risks, organizational factors, personal values, and social influences. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of employer perspectives and may provide valuable insights for the development of employment programs, reintegration initiatives, and support systems that promote successful community reintegration for formerly incarcerated individuals. Keywords: Business Owners, Newly Released Inmates, Employer Perception, Employment Readiness, Reintegration.
